On 24 April 2018 start the supposedly final hearings in the trial against Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet at Silivri prison, outside Istanbul. 18 defendants are threatened with charges of up to 43 years. ECPMF's Nora Wehofsits is on-site monitoring the trial.

From 24 to 27 April, 2018 eighteen journalists and executives of Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet are standing trial again in Silivri Prison. This major case has become a symbol of the supression of media freedom and freedom of expression in Turkey. Those are the supposedly final hearings, verdicts are expected on Friday.
