Hungary must pay damages for claiming defamation via hyperlink to YouTube
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on 4thDecember 2018 backed a Hungarian news portal for hyperlinking a Youtube video which, according to the domestic courts, contained “defamatory” remarks about an anti-Roma political party.

The ECtHR’s decision is highly relevant for media and journalists since hyperlinking has become a widely used reporting technique.
