MANS - Network for Affirmation of the NGO Sector - Stakeholders

MANS is a non-governmental organization that fights against corruption and organized crime in Montenegro. MANS struggles for a fair, open and free society of active citizens and for a government that serves the public interest. It is engaged in investigating cases of corruption and organized crime, monitoring the implementation of legislation and government policy, providing free legal aid to citizens, CSOs, media and businesses, developing law and policy proposals and analysis, conducting advocacy campaigns. It has dealt extensively with the issue of freedom of information and access to public information in Montenegro.

Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) - Stakeholders

Founded in 1997 by the respected American journalist Chuck Lewis, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) is a global network of more than 200 investigative journalists in 70 countries who collaborate on in-depth investigative stories.

ICIJ was launched as a project of the Center for Public Integrity , focusing on issues that do not stop at national frontiers: cross-border crime, corruption, and the accountability of power. ICIJ's aims is to bring journalists from different countries together in teams - eliminating rivalry and promoting collaboration. ICIJ projects are typically staffed by teams ranging from as few as three to as many as 100-plus reporters spread around the world. These journalists work with counterparts in other countries and with Washington, D.C., staff to report, edit, and produce groundbreaking multimedia reports that adhere to the highest standards of fairness and accuracy.

In February 2017, ICIJ was spun off to become a fully independent news organization with the goal of extending its global reach and impact.

Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation - Stakeholders

The Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation (SCF) is a foundation in memory of Serbian journalist Slavko Ćuruvija, killed in 1999. Its mission is to raise the quality of journalism in Serbia, offering support for local media, investigative journalism, as well as providing training for students of journalism. This objective is achieved by supporting independent journalists’ work in local communities through grants, programs and projects in order to strengthen their capacity to be watchdog of democracy on all levels of power, from the local one to the national one. The SCF has three areas of work : Local Media Development, Supporting Investigative Journalisms and Education Programs and Scholarship. In 2014 the Foundation launched the web portal Cenzolovka  aimed at informing the public on all issues that are relevant to the freedom of media in Serbia. Cenzolovka aims at contributing to the monitoring and public understanding of cases concerning violations of media freedom in Serbia and at involving media professionals, independent experts, government representatives and ordinary citizens at large.

Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC) - Stakeholders

Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC) is an independent media research and policy think tank that seeks to improve the quality of media policymaking and the state of independent media and journalism through research, knowledge sharing and financial support. MJRC continues the work of the Center for Media, Data & Society (CMDS), which until October 2022 operated as a unit of Central European University (CEU).

Freedom of the Press Foundation - Stakeholders

Freedom of the Press Foundation supports public-interest journalism worldwide. Involving prominent investigative journalists such as Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras as well as whistleblowers such as Edward Snowden, the foundation focuses on government transparency and compliance with the law and the constitution: as they state, "we strive to make government as open and transparent as possible". To this end, the Foundation promotes advocacy campaigns to defend the rights of journalists and whistleblowers and to keep authorities accountable.

Freedom of the Press Foundation also provides direct support to journalists and media outlets, notably by launching crowdfunding campaigns aimed at supporting critical work carried out by non-profit watchdog organizations, in order to defuse political and financial pressure on them. The Foundation supports investigative reporting also by developing, advertising and teaching journalists to use a variety of tools aimed at protecting digital communications and at making whistleblower submission safer, such as the SecureDrop system. 

European Journalism Observatory (EJO) - Stakeholders

The European Journalism Observatory (EJO) is a network of independent non-profit media research institutes in 14 countries. The network aims to disseminate research on journalism and global media issues, and to foster professionalism and press freedom.

Among its activities, it provides analysis and articles on contemporary journalism and media research, holds conferences and workshops  and engages in comparative, investigative projects. 

Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma - Stakeholders

The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma is a resource center and global network of journalists, journalism educators and health professionals dedicated to improving media coverage of trauma, conflict and tragedy. Based at the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, the Dart Center is also involved in a variety of press freedom-related activities, including helping to spearhead the Global Safety Principles, campaigning on behalf of freelance journalists, supporting news organizations in developing countries, implementing initiatives to address psychological safety and spotlighting the cases of individual journalists targeted with violence. The Dart Center is a project of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. The European office of "Dart Center Europe" is based in London.

Platform for Independent Journalism (P24)  - BAĞIMSIZ GAZETECİLİK PLATFORMU is a civil society organization founded by members of the Turkish press whose objective is to support media integrity in Turkey by providing trainings, assistance and funding opportunities for young professionals. 

Centre for Freedom of the Media - Stakeholders

The Centre for Freedom of the Media (CFOM) is a research and advocacy centre based at the Department of Journalism Studies of the University of Sheffield. It focuses on media freedom issues worldwide employing a variety of perspectives and tools. Besides traditional academic and educational activities, the Centre is active in the information and advocacy field, monitoring the state of media freedom and sharing best practice and resources for journalists. It seeks to counter threats to journalism safety and freedom in many different countries, and it promotes positive changes to laws, policy and practice concerning them.

Open Data in Europe and Central Asia (ODECA) - Stakeholders

ODECA is a platform to support government representatives, civil society activists, tech activists and citizens that care about and work with open data.

The network covers 18 countries in the region and aims to stimulate innovation, knowledge sharing and learning among practitioners and aficionados of open data regionally and globally.

Their goal is to use the potential of open data to transform societies by empowering citizens and supporting governments to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
