SLAPP in Italy: Testimonies from Those Targeted by Legal Harassment

 The annual report published by the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe - CASE - in December 2024, reveals that Italy was the European country with the highest number of SLAPP cases recorded in 2023. Corruption and the environment are the issues most frequently at the center of these disputes, confirming the urgent need to take action to protect those who fight for the common good.

On December 9, 2024, to mark International Anti-Corruption Day, OBCT, together with Amnesty International Italy and The Good Lobby, organized the event “Free to Speak, Free to Be Informed” ("Liberi di esprimersi, liberi di informarsi"), giving voice to the testimonies of those who have been targeted by SLAPPs.In this video series, the stories of those who have experienced this legal intimidation firsthand: Fabio Gobbato, director of Salto.bz; Claudio Cordova, director of Il Dispaccio; Peter Gomez, director of Il Fatto Quotidiano.it, co-director of Il Fatto Quotidiano; Giulio Rubino, co-director of IrpiMedia; Emiliano Fittipaldi, director of Domani; Felice Moramarco, Communication Project Strategist, Greenpeace Italia.
