Deniz Yücel, the Turkey correspondent of national German newspaper Die Welt, has been held in solitary confinement for 200 days now at Istanbul’s Silivri jail. He is accused of “belonging to a terrorist organisation“, “misuse of data“ and “ terrorist propaganda“. His wife Dilek Mayatürk Yücel is allowed to visit him only once a week, on Mondays. She has written an open letter urging the media freedom community, and the world in general, not to forget her husband.

Investigative journalist Dilyana Gaytandzhieva is not at work today. She’s posting her investigation into illegal Bulgarian arms smuggling on Facebook and YouTube instead of in the pages of "Trud", the newspaper that used to employ her.
