German Federation of Journalists ( Deutscher Journalisten-Verband- DJV)

The Deutscher Journalisten-Verband (German Federation of Journalists) is a professional association, trade union and service center for journalists. With around 38.000 members is one of the largest journalists' trade union in Germany. It is one of the oldest and most important institutions of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

GiULia (GIornaliste Unite LIbere Autonome)

Born in 2011, GiULia (United Free Autonomous Women Journalists) is an Italian association that unites women professional journalists and freelancers who have signed the democratic, antifascist and solidaristic manifesto.

It has two main goals:

• to change the information imbalance about women, also using a language without stereotypes;
• and to fight for equal job opportunities for women without discriminations

Global Council To Build Trust in Media and Fight Misinformation

The Global Council To Build Trust in Media and Fight Misinformation (GC2FM) is a global initiative aiming at facilitating and actioning realistic, practical and workable solutions to the problem of misinformation. The Council will unite and focus on this issue through four key areas based on the core needs identified during the framing process: first, the creation of a repository of resources and initiatives in the fight of misinformation: second, the creation of a network of individuals, organisations and initiatives; third, foster innovation in order to identify workable solutions; forth, stimulate the industry to speak with a unified voice.

The framing committee of the Global Council is composed by: the Ethical Journalism Network, the European Broadcasting Union, the Global Editors Network, the Global Forum for Media Development, the Online News Association, and WAN-IFRA/World Editor’s Forum.

The Council was launched in April 2018.

Global Forum for Media Development

The Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) is an international membership network of media assistance groups that highlights the importance of independent, pluralistic and sustainable media in social and economic development.

GFMD members share the common goal to foster free, professional and pluralistic media, leading to more open societies, greater transparency and enhanced freedom of expression by means of advocacy work, coordination, information sharing and research.

Global Investigative Journalism Network - GIJN

The Global Investigative Journalism Network is an international association of journalism organizations that support the training and sharing of information among investigative and data journalists, even in repressive regimes and marginalized communities.

Key activities include:

• Providing resources and networking services to investigative journalists worldwide;
• Publishing in multiple languages and on multiple platforms the latest tools, techniques and opportunities for those in the field;
• Helping organize and promote regional and international training conferences and workshops;
• Assisting in the formation and sustainability of journalism organizations involved in investigative reporting and data journalism around the world;
• Supporting and promoting best practices in investigative and data journalism;
• Supporting and promoting efforts to ensure free access to public documents and data worldwide.

Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (HFHR)

The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (HFHR) is a foundation established in 1989 in Warsaw. The HFHR is one of the most experienced and professional non-governmental organizations involved in the protection of human rights in Europe. It is active both in Poland and abroad, in particular in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, the Caucasus and Central Asia. HFHR conducts national and international trainings, organizes conferences and seminars. It provides expert consultation in the sphere of human rights and freedoms to individuals as well as to non-governmental organizations and to state institutions.

In 1993, the Foundation set up the Human Rights House in Warsaw, an international network to protect, empowers and support human rights defenders and their organizations. Today, more than 100 independent human rights organizations work together in 15 Human Rights Houses located in Eastern and Western Europe, the Caucasus and the Balkans. The headquarter of the Human Rights House Foundation is based in Oslo.

In Poland the Foundation has established the Observatory of Media Freedom , a program dedicated to monitoring the standards of protection of the freedom of expression in Poland, through legal opinions, analysis and complaints to the European Court of Human Rights.

Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights

Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights aims at promoting and developing in the society the awareness of and the attention to transparency and accountability. Its aims are:

• supporting and developing free software with the purpose of increasing the Freedom of Speech online and, more in general, the protection of rights and personal freedom in a connected world;
• supporting and developing the whistleblowing free-software solution named “GlobaLeaks” aimed at private and public organizations which shall be free to adopt the same software for their initiatives;
• taking part in associations or organizations which share the same goals as the Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights in the field of promotion and protection of civil liberties, anonymity in a connected world, whistleblowing, freedom of speech and investigative journalism;
• supporting the development and promotion of the Tor2web project and of the TOR network and tools thereof in general;
• supporting the development and actual management of the LeakDirectory website, listing whistleblowing websites;
• hosting or attending events aimed at increasing the culture of Transparency (i.e., public-interest whistleblowing, OpenData, OpenGovernment etc.)

Human Rights Action Montenegro

Human Rights Action is a non-profit non-governmental organization that gathers professionals and volunteers on projects with the aim of improving human rights in Montenegro.

their actions include the promotion of
– equal rights of people regardless of their religion, nationality, colour of skin, sex, political or sexual preference
– a free country, where human rights are exercised, not repressed
– the rule of law, based on respect for human rights
– the culture of human rights

Human Rights Centre

The Human Rights Centre at the Faculty of Law and Criminology at Ghent University is an academic centre specialized in human rights law.

With a dynamic international team, counting many young researchers, the Centre has broad research and teaching expertise, covering international, regional, national and comparative law of human rights.

Human Rights Centre members work on a range of thematic issues, including legal pluralism, freedom of expression, gender, indigenous peoples’ rights, and the European Court of Human Rights. Members also actively engage with human rights practice by supervising clinical projects and submitting third-party interventions to the European Court of Human Rights.

Human Rights Monitoring Institute

Human Rights Monitoring Institute (Žmogaus teisių stebėjimo institutas-ŽTSI) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit public advocacy organisation based in Vilnius (LT). Since its establishment in 2003, HRMI has been advocating for full compliance of national laws and policies with international human rights obligations and working to ensure that rights are real and effective in practice.

The team of HRMI lawyers and public policy experts carries out research , drafts legal and policy briefings , compiles reports to international human rights bodies, undertakes strategic cases before domestic and international courts, provides expert consultations and legal services , engages in various national and international projects , delivers conventional and distance trainings to law enforcement officers and other professionals. In 2012, HRMI was appointed the national operator of the EEA Grants NGO Programme in Lithuania.

Among its fields of activity, the Institute focuses of freedom of expression, privacy and digital rights.
