Finland, the self-proclaimed country of press freedom, holds the presidency of the Council of the EU for the next six months. On the occasion of the summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in July 2018 in Helsinki, the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat launched a campaign to tell the US President that he had arrived in the country of press freedom. The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) and 20 other human rights and freedom of expression organisations condemn a Turkish pro-government think-tank’s report that accuses leading international media of being biased against the government and singles out their correspondents for attack.
