If you live in Europe, know about a breach of freedom of expression in your country and need time and money to document it, you can apply for the Freedom of Expression Grant. Both individuals and teams can apply, teams of 2 or more journalists are encouraged to apply.
The application deadline is September 21, 2016, at 11.59 pm Brussels time.
The applications will be assessed by a jury appointed by the ECPMF and Journalismfund.eu. A total of € 15,000 will be awarded for different projects considered eligible. Details about the evaluation criteria can be found here .
Applicants are requested to present a pre-researched working hypothesis on how to document the alleged breach of freedom of expression, including a work plan, a budget and a letter of intent of publication. Planned publication should be no later than January 2017.
The funds for the grant come from the European Center for Press and Media Freedom in Leipzig, Germany.
