In 2015, the political commentator Peter Oborne revealed to the online media platform openDemocracy  that he resigned from the Daily Telegraph because he could not bear anymore editorial interference by advertisers.

His words apparently uncovered a 'dirty issue' which the staff of openDemocracy decided to investigate further, through a new project: openMedia aims to expose commercial interference in editorial decisions across 47 countries in Europe. The project is carried out in partnership with Index on Censorship, European Federation of Journalists and King's College London .

Journalists are invited to take an anonymous survey on working practices and personal experiences of financial pressure inside newsrooms. All information will be treated in strict confidence.
