Since the year 2000, CPJ compiles detailed information on journalists in jail across the world.

Data are disaggregated on a country basis, and interactive visualization are provided comparing the total number of journalists in jail across time. Detailed narrative description of every single case is also provided.

CPJ applies strict journalistic standards to investigate and determine the circumstances of each case included in the list. For an overview of CPJ methodology, see here .
