As part of its campaign “Who really owns the media?”, in 2013 AccessInfo carried out a monitoring activity on the existing regulations on transparency of media ownership across Europe.

The monitoring takes into account regulations concerning print, online and broadcast media. It assesses the availability and accessibility of data on media ownership, on major shareholders, the existence of a threshold for shareholding disclosure, the existence of measures prescribing the disclosure of beneficial ownership.

The countries covered by this monitoring are: Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UK.
