Transgender Europe - Guide for Journalists

This digest has been produced in cooperation with the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ)

Transgender Europe has created a 'Guide for Journalists ' booklet, supported by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the European Union, for covering stories about, or stories which affect, trans people in a fair and respectful manner.

The aim of the guide is to make terminology more clear to journalists, so that they do not resort to over-simplifications, sensationalist arguments, stereotypes or inaccurate reporting.

The guide includes a glossary of words to use when reporting on transgender individuals or issues, explains key themes and identities, and gives examples of good and bad reporting in practice.

Transgender Europe have also released "tips for journalists" on covering Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR).
