In July 2024, the European Commission published the Rule of Law Report, in which it also focused on media freedom and pluralism. As part of the public consultation that took place at the beginning of the year, OBCT sent an individual contribution highlighting key developments and challenges affecting media freedom in the country. The contributions focused on the ongoing reform process of the defamation regime, the situation regarding journalists' safety and the lack of independence of the public media service RAI.
