This report presents the key findings and recommendations of the fact-finding mission to North Macedonia organised by the Association of Journalists of Macedonia from 5-7 June 2023.
5 partners from the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) traveled to the country to assess the state of play for press and media freedom: OBC Transeuropa, European Federation of Journalists, Free Press Unlimited, International Press Institute, European Centre for Press and Media Freedom.
During the three-day mission, MFRR partners met with the most relevant policymakers in Skopje to assess the persistent problems of the media sector. This report focuses on key issues related to press and media freedom, such as the safety of journalists, libel lawsuits, enabling working conditions, and the role of public and private broadcasters.
