For the 2025 Ratiu Forum Journalism Mentorship Programme, we invite applications from journalists in Romania and select regional countries (Moldova, Bulgaria, Hungary, Ukraine), with a strong encouragement for applicants from minority communities. A maximum of 16 participants will be selected, each required to formally agree to the programme’s terms and conditions.
Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Pitch an original story idea and revise it based on feedback
- Attend all scheduled workshops during the kickoff meeting at the Ratiu Democracy Centre in Turda, Romania, in January 2025. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be covered by the Ratiu Forum.
- Actively participate in one-on-one mentorship sessions
- Commit to conducting thorough fieldwork over the 4-month programme under the guidance of mentors
- Produce a well-researched, original story
Selected participants will have the chance to pitch their story ideas to a panel of seasoned European journalists, receiving customized feedback to fine-tune their proposals. Afterward, they will integrate expert suggestions into their research, continuing their work in a structured professional setting.
