Freedom House assesses the challenges for media freedom worldwide in its annual Freedom of the Press  report. Each country receives a numerical score from 0 (the most free) to 100 (the least free), which serves as the basis for a status designation of Free, Partly Free, or Not Free. The methodology  adopted  by Freedom House for this monitoring initiative includes an assessment of the legal, political and economic environments that influence media content, independence and transparency.

The finding of Freedom House monitoring activity are presented also through interactive maps available here .
