
Among journalists the need for encryption to protect their information is a matter that mostly is of common interest but only a few journalists are using tools given for that.
According to Jorge Luis Sierra, an ICFJ Knight Fellow, the reasons for that often lie in the complexity of the technologies. Encryption systems are complicated and not very friendly to non-technical users. This fact collides with the limited time and technical knowlege journalists have.
