online training

This course is part of the project Strengthening Journalism in Europe: Tools, Networking, Training, run by the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (CMPF) , Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in co-operation with the Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS)  at the Central European University (Budapest). The course can be accessed, for free, after a quick registration process.

The aim of this module is to offer a guide through the process of writing an investigative story, beginning with the preparation stage of investigative reporting, to the data collection phase of the information gathering process. Throughout the module, trainees are confronted with concrete case study examples, to get a better idea of how the investigative process actually works in practice. Furthermore, a number of online and additional learning materials will also be provided, along with resources on budget-planning, fund-raising and ways to cover possible legal costs.
