As part of its action within the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom,  between February and April 2019 OBC Transeuropa (OBCT) cooperated with Wikimedia Italia (WMI), the association promoting Wikipedia in Italy, in an education project in which Ginevra and Claudia, two students from the "Racchetti - da Vinci" high school in Crema, translated several Wikipedia articles about murdered journalists.

Ginevra and Claudia asked WMI to do an internship on Wikipedia writing, and the association developed together with OBCT a project aiming to translate articles on media freedom. After being introduced by WMI and OBCT to Wikipedia and media freedom, they started writing, under constant supervision.

At the end of the project they had translated the articles about Carlo Casalegno, Cosimo Cristina, and Walter Tobagi, three Italian journalists killed by mafia or terrorists, from Italian to English, and the articles about Norbert WernerVasil' Kliment'jev, and the death of Igor' Korneljuk and Anton Vološin from English to Italian.

This way the students learnt more about how Wikipedia is developed, about those who died for freedom of expression, and got some experience in translation. Their work is now freely available for anyone to learn more.

The project is part of the Wiki4MediaFreedom initiative that, since 2015, has been working to improve the quality of content in multiple languages related to media freedom and pluralism in Europe in Wikipedia. All the Wikipedia articles created in this framework are available in the Resource Centre for Press and Media Freedom.
