Global Council To Build Trust in Media and Fight Misinformation - Stakeholders

The Global Council To Build Trust in Media and Fight Misinformation (GC2FM) is a global initiative aiming at facilitating and actioning realistic, practical and workable solutions to the problem of misinformation. The Council will unite and focus on this issue through four key areas based on the core needs identified during the framing process: first, the creation of a repository of resources and initiatives in the fight of misinformation: second, the creation of a network of individuals, organisations and initiatives; third, foster innovation in order to identify workable solutions; forth, stimulate the industry to speak with a unified voice.

The framing committee of the Global Council is composed by: the Ethical Journalism Network, the European Broadcasting Union, the Global Editors Network, the Global Forum for Media Development, the Online News Association, and WAN-IFRA/World Editor’s Forum.

The Council was launched in April 2018.

Knight Foundation - Stakeholders

Knight Foundation is a foundation based in the United States. It supports projects in different fields, including journalism, with the aim of fostering informed and engaged communities. The supported initiatives, leaders and ideas are intended to meet the needs of an evolving practice of journalism, including the use and adoption of new media technology. The foundation also seek to enable sustainable news organizations, primarily by supporting the relevance of their journalism to audiences. 

FJUM (Forum for Journalism and Media) - Stakeholders

FJUM (Forum for Journalism and Media) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2011 on the initiative of the City of Vienna. It offers training courses, seminars, and longer modules for journalists in Austria and Europe, some of them held in English. The main focus lies with innovation, internationalism, and content specialization. Every year FJUM organizes a high-level media conference, Media Innovation Day, where trends in journalism are discussed and possible solutions for the current shake-up in the field of media are offered.

Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ) - Stakeholders

The Union of  Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ) is the largest journalists' organization in Bulgaria. It is a voluntary association of 4500 journalists from all over the country who want to protect their own professional, social and trade union rights and interests. The main goals of UBJ are as follows: the promotion of professional journalism in the Bulgarian society; the adherence to professional standards and ethics; the protection of media freedom and independent press; the expression of the common interests of Bulgarian journalists to public authorities; the development of international cooperation in the field of professional journalism.

European Youth Press (EYP) - Stakeholders

The European Youth Press (EYP) is a network of youth media organisations in Europe. With 27 member organisations and several committees, the EYP is a non-profit institution which reaches more than 60.000 young journalists across Europe, volunteers and professionals between 20 and 30 years of age. The main aim of the EYP is to inspire young people to involve themselves in media and take an active part in civil society, by fostering fair and independent journalism. To do that, EYP organises seminars, trainings and debates for young journalists while also taking an active part in discussions regarding the standards in journalism education and media policies throughout the European Union and beyond.
 

Albanian Centre for Quality Journalism - Stakeholders

Financially supported by US Embassy in Tirana through the US State Department’s Alumni Office Program, the Albanian Center for Quality Journalism aims to improve professional journalism standards in the country, paying particular attention to trainings for young students. Under this initiative, the contents of the website (both in English and Albanian) are produced and edited by the students of the Investigative Journalism Laboratory project, who are responsible for the policy and the editorial line.

Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom (CPBF) - Stakeholders

The Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom (CPBF) is a civil society organization based in the UK. It has been working for ‘a more accountable, freer and diverse media’ since 1979. CPBF is active in defending the principles of public service broadcasting and to argue for democratically accountable forms of broadcasting regulation.

The Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ) is a think-tank, alternative university and an experimental laboratory set up to train a new generation of reporters in the tools of investigative, in-depth, and long-form journalism across all media. Registered as a charity, it robustly defends investigative journalists and those who work with them.
