Companies operating in the public sphere should be accountable for their actions and impacts on human rights and the environment, and in order to achieve this, transparency is essential.

Moving from this consideration, Access Info Europe requested the access to the full company register database in 32 European countries to test the effective availability of data of public interest. The results show that transparency with regard to business registers is far from being guaranteed in most of European countries.

This initiative is part of the campaign Accessing Company Registers , promoted by Access Info Europe in cooperation with the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.
