Mèdia.cat is an initiative developed by The Ramon Barnils Journalists Group in 2009 to investigate under-reported stories and to highlight media bias. Inspired by the Index on Censorship’s “Mapping Media Freedom”, in 2015 it started detecting media freedom violations throughout the Catalan countries (Catalonia, Valencia, Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia, Alguer and La Franja) on its interactive “Censorship map ”.
