School of Journalism and Public Relations

The School of Journalism and Public Relations from Skopje is the first and only institution in Macedonia that provides education to journalism and public relations specialists, successfully combining theory and practice. At the School there are two graduate courses: journalism and corporate communications and public relations. The division into two courses that, although complementary and alike, has the purpose of dividing and separately developing both professions that are on two opposite ends of information and communication.

Share Foundation

The Share Foundation is an international NGO based in Belgrade (Serbia) focusing its activities on Internet and digital media as fundamental elements for achieving democratic change in society, as a tool for improvement of government accountability and transparency, and socioeconomic empowerment of citizens.

SHARE Defense is part of the Share Foundation and its goal is to fight for the public interest concerning digital rights within the fields of privacy, free speech, government transparency and efficiency, surveillance and human rights. SHARE Defense staff includes lawyers, analysts, journalists and technicians with an expertise in the protection of digital rights.

Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy - Harvard Kennedy School

The Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy is a Harvard University research center that explores the intersection and impact of media, politics and public policy in theory and practice. The Center was founded in 1986 and is focused in four specific areas becuase of their relevance for a healthy democracy:

Sindikat medija Crne Gore - Trade Union of Media of Montenegro

The Trade Union of Media of Montenegro (Sindikat medija Crne Gore) deals with contractual disputes between staff and employers and provides journalists legal support, but it also participates in public-awareness campaigns around specific policy or regulatory issues that impact journalists’ reporting practices and rights.

Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation

The Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation (SCF) is a foundation in memory of Serbian journalist Slavko Ćuruvija, killed in 1999. Its mission is to raise the quality of journalism in Serbia, offering support for local media, investigative journalism, as well as providing training for students of journalism. This objective is achieved by supporting independent journalists’ work in local communities through grants, programs and projects in order to strengthen their capacity to be watchdog of democracy on all levels of power, from the local one to the national one. The SCF has three areas of work : Local Media Development, Supporting Investigative Journalisms and Education Programs and Scholarship. In 2014 the Foundation launched the web portal Cenzolovka aimed at informing the public on all issues that are relevant to the freedom of media in Serbia. Cenzolovka aims at contributing to the monitoring and public understanding of cases concerning violations of media freedom in Serbia and at involving media professionals, independent experts, government representatives and ordinary citizens at large.

South East Europe Media Organisation

South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) is a regional non-governmental, non-profit network of editors, media executives and leading journalists from newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations, news agencies and new media in Southeast Europe. It was founded in October 2000 in Zagreb. With its committees, SEEMO aims to create a bridge between international media activities and the media developments in the region.

SEEMO is among the funding partners of the ECPMF.

South East European Media Observatory

South East European (SEE) Media Observatory is a regional partnership of civil society organisations aimed at enhancing media freedom and pluralism and influencing media reforms in the countries of South East Europe.

It addresses the obstacle to democratic development and the problems of media and journalism integrity in the Balkan region, focusing on harmful patterns of media ownership and media finances. It provides a regional instrument for media research and monitoring, support to investigative journalism and civil society engagement. It also offers a regional framework for debates, consultations and coalitions among key stakeholders. SEE Media Observatory is part of South East European Network for Professionalization of the Media.

South East European Network for Professionalization of Media

The South East European Network for Professionalization of Media (SEENPM) promotes excellence in journalism and unites fifteen non-for-profit media cent­ers from eleven South East European and neigh­boring countries. Its main activities are policy initiatives, research and training to enhance the development of independent media, the strengthening of relations among journalists, and overall progress in the region.

Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection

The Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection is a regional organization dedicated to strengthening legal protections and rights for whistleblowers. It does so by investigating whistleblower cases and raising awareness of the value of whistleblowing to fight crime and corruption. The Coalition is comprised of more than 30 NGOs and other groups from 13 Southeast Europe countries.

Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF)

The Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF) is a newly launched advocacy organization that promotes the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights and freedoms with a special focus on Turkey.

SCF, a non-proft organization, was set up by a group of journalists who have been forced to live in self-exile in Sweden against the backdrop of a massive crackdown on press freedom in Turkey.

SCF is committed to serving as a reference source by providing a broader picture of rights violations in Turkey, monitoring daily developments on fact-based investigative journalism and documenting individual cases of the infringement of fundamental rights.
